Flash! Just-In: 10 Governors Endorse Merger Between For APGA, ACN, ANPP, CPC To Form Mega Party

10 governors have today endorsed the merger talks between 4 political parties including ANPP, CPC, ACN and APGA to form a mega party.

The announcement was made by the Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha after a 5-hour meeting that held at the government house, Marina Lagos and hosted by Governor Raji Fashola of Lagos.

This is perceived by the parties involved in the merger to be a strategic move to wrestle power from the PDP in the 2015 presidential elections particularly.

Unarguably, the race for 2015 elections have been kickstarted officialy with this public endorsement.

  1. Personally I don’t think this so call merger to form a mega part will work, and this simply because most Nigerians are hypocrite.

I think the opposition parties r really making a strong move this time around and the earlier the better.if only the parties involved can remain united and make sure they put Nigerians into consideration, there should not be any individualistic agenda. With this the PDP will be in trouble.its not all about the presidency but there will be a true measure of democracy all over the country unlike when d PDP holding d whole country by d jugular 4rm d states to d house of assemblies federal nd state.

if the merger is for the purpose of delivering good governance,it will work, but if it is to just seize power from the PDP…they will soon start jostling among themselves who will be the flag bearer. I wish them luck.

I still strongly doubt this merger plan and its eventual success in particular. Some pp will want to use d opportunity of d merger to achieve their selfish ambition. This merger would go along way (in my view) if Buhari is used as a candidate against d PDP. Buhari alone (as CPC) gannared abt 12million votes in d last election, if given d merger support and a good candidate, then PDP would most likely be oustered.

Personaly, I think it will require more than a merger to defeat the PDP. Looking at the result of the bye-election in Kano, I added the votes of all the parties as against the PDP and it showed that the score was not even up quarter of votes for PDP. Let them start by creating awareness on what Nigerians should expect from the merger in form of democratic dividents.

I support this move with all passion and I’ll keep praying that PDP is defeated in 2015. However, the Mega party should not stain itself with things like Imposition. Best of luck

This is the part of radical effort toward saving Nigeria from this long last worries. Now it remain for the electorates to know who will be more responsive to their needs and aspiration and also cast their vote to that person come 2015. But to achieve that, all religious, tribal and regional sentiment must be brush aside.

Well this endorsement, if persisted could the first practical step, to politically turn things arround for the better in this country. But my reservations however, to this soul-searching about parties merger success, is the fear of presence of ‘MOLES‘ from within the initiatives. So, if they do it with determination, resolve and political will, Nigerians will no doubt rally behind them, so that, together we can finally change the batton through just ballots. To the governors watchout, there may be consequences, especially if you attempt looting public treasury henceforth!

This will bring positive robust energy to our politics…parties will line out their first elevens and manifesto will be more meaningful and diligently implemented. Impunity in governance will be dealth a devastating left hook. Hope the merger goes all the way.

Thumbs up to this merger, and about time too. I urge all Nigerians to support it. The Labour Party too needs to join this historic initiative. At least if we have another strong party waiting in the wings, it makes our democracy stronger, and most of the rogues and bandits in the PDP will be forced to sit up, knowing Nigerians now have options. Nigeria is gradually moving towards a 2 Party state and it is a wonderful opportunity for the electorate to exercise their franchise. However, I am not too comfortable with the presence of APGA in the coalition

Merger or no merger is not the solution, what Nigeria needs is REVOLUTION that will lead to some ppl obituary like Obasanjo, Tinubu, Tony Anenih, Babangida, Jonathan Tukur, Akande, etc. Then will can talk of merger as a strong opposition party, PDP as a part is not the Nigeria problem but individual selfish interest, i.e a govervnor who cannot spent more than 2 terms in office but obtained loan/bond that cover 4 terms, this is common among our new party endorsed governors in the S/W to pleased there pocket & godfathers. Most of the politicians are flying from one part to another everyday for there selfish interest & after merger they will begin to move from one party to another.
